On May 13–15, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU FCEA) and its partners will invite business, local government, science, and urban communities from all over the world to exclusive events dedicated to the creation and use of smart cities and their digital twins.
According to the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Andrius Jurelionis, a large group of scientists and business representatives from all over the world are also expected in Kaunas. It is expected that many of them will be attracted to the congress organized jointly with the international Building Digital Twins Association.
“These are exceptional events not only for KTU, but also for the entire city and the country. Strategically, Lithuania seeks to create high-value products and services, but in many aspects, we are still lagging behind the most advanced countries in the world. At KTU FCEA, we work a lot with digitalization innovations in the fields of construction and urban management.”
As stated by the KTU scientist, just a few examples are dynamic energy certification of buildings, which can be carried out based on real energy consumption, as well as smart building management systems, digitalization of utility services, and citizen involvement in urban management and design.
“The fact that Kaunas was chosen for these events is an appreciation for our researchers and scientists, because it shows that we are doing important work that is noticeable by foreign partners and organizations,” said A. Jurelionis.
According to the Dean of KTU FCEA, these events will address how to make urban and building design solutions more transparent, modern, and sustainable. It is precisely digitalization that in many cases helps to solve such complex tasks as increasing sustainability, security, reducing the carbon footprint, digital preservation of cultural heritage values, and even – the digitalization of green spaces can be useful in preserving trees or green areas. All three events will be held in English, in the historic KTU III building, right next to Independence Square.
On May 13, a free event Brokerage Event, HE Cluster 4 will be held for business and municipal representatives seeking to expand their network of partners and interested in the opportunity to submit applications to the European Union’s research and innovation program “Horizon Europe”. This event is organized in cooperation with the European Commission, together with the international projects SmartWins, EDIH4LT and SustAInLivWork.
