“We must begin in empathy, by becoming the animals before we can save them” – David Sobel (1996)
Workshop: “Fostering empathy for animals in the community in the face of climate change“
We invite youth (18 – 30 years orld) to gain a unique experience by taking part in an interactive workshop during the Youth for a Sustainable Future conference. During this workshop, we will explore how biophilic and animal welfare-oriented design can help to address the challenges of climate change, while creating harmonious environments for people and animals in cities.
Why join us? A unique experience: through role-playing, participants will empathize with different animals and people to better understand their needs and challenges in an urban environment. Creative activities: using collages, drawings, and generative AI tools, we will co-create visions for sustainable and inclusive habitats in cities. Relevance in the context of climate change: the climate crisis is forcing us to rethink how we can live in harmony with all living beings.
What will we do? We will take part in an immersive role-playing game; create visions using collage techniques; generate creative solutions using artificial intelligence tools.
The creative workshop will be led the teachers of by Kaunas University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture and GreenIn Cities project researchers Laura Jankauskaitė-Jurevičienė, Jurga Vitkuvienė, Indrė Gražulevičiūtė-Vileniškė, Jūratė Kamičaitytė.
