11 teams of high school students involved in the project “Design. Engineer. Construct! Lithuania” presented their works for midterm expert evaluation. Pupils are working with projects from September after hearing it and some advice from Justinas Jarutis, Maksas Melmanas, Mantas Bartuševičius and other well known Lithuania performers.

Teams of KTU Engineering Lyceum, Kaunas “Saulė”, Vilnius “Žemynos” and Panevėžys J. Balčikonis gymnasiums are participating in the international project organized by KTU Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture. They already have visions and logos ready, done an environmental analysis, planned what kind of premises will be needed and how they should be arranged in the space. Some teams already have computer-generated 3D models, which will be supplemented by additional information and detailed until the summer.

Students testing the shoes of architects and civil engineers will need to further delve into materials, construction, ventilation and heating, and other engineering solutions.

The project is carried out together with partners from Great Britain – Class of Your Own. Their representatives are also frequent participants in events and meetings with students. A year ago, when the participants were developing the James Bond Hotel project, the British Daniel McDonagh got to know the participants and their work live, this year the whole process takes place in virtual rooms.

“I am just fascinated by the high level of projects these students prepare. Not only do they think about various important nuances, but they also work great with professional computer programs that real engineers work with. It is a pity that I cannot attend live, but I hope to come to the last presentation on June” – said D. McDonagh.

During the interim presentation, the works of the participants were reviewed and comments provided by 10 experts in various fields: Gintaras Balčytis – Architect; Tomas Lukaševičius – LRT OPUS radio host; Ieva Filipova – KTU Creative Manager; Alvydas Kvedaravičius – representative of YIT Lietuva; Andrius Jurelionis – Dean of KTU SAF; Egidijus Kasakaitis – Architect; Marius Dundulis – LRT sound engineer; Paulina Kuzmickaitė-Bernotė – Head of Marketing Department, KTU; Martynas Pabrėža – Staticus representative; Darius Pupeikis – Head of IMIC;

Also, faculty students: Kristina Podinskaitė, Kazimieras Daunoras, Tomas Arlauskas, Gediminas Viliūnas, Audrius Akelaitis, Tomas Šalčiūnas.
